Fig Leaf Earrings

Fig Leaf Earrings

$48.00Price

A sweet piece of history on Ocracoke is the love of figs!  The deep green leaves of fig trees can be spotted about the island (always ask before you pick!). Locally grown and coveted by many, figs are celebrated in mid-August at the Ocracoke Fig Festival.  Savory fig hors d'oeuvers, fig cake, fig tea...but the best way to eat them is by bringing fresh picked figs to a hot day at the beach!  Measuring just under 1", these sterling silver drop earrings are a tribute to the Ocracoke fig traditions.

When Maureen evacuated Ocracoke island just a few days ahead of Hurricane Dorian, she never dreamed the damage would be such an epic event.  Hoping to return the following week, it quickly became evident that the effect of Dorian would be years of restoration.  Advice from friends on the island is to send donations to Ocracoke Alive.  This collection of jewelry  raises funds for disaster relief as well as hope for islanders who lost so much.  Want to give more?  Please visit the above link for donation info!
